Darren, excellent article IMO. I know from experience that success can be achieved without knowledge of one’s deep values (core values). However great success will either not be accomplished without this knowledge or will take an unnecessary long and frustrating struggle.

I do agree that most set out, as I did long ago, without this knowledge. Most of us choose to focus on goals and process. IMO to do this without discovering one’s core values is putting the cart before the horse. It’s being in too much of a hurry to climb the ladder to success without knowing if it is placed against the correct wall or, for that matter, whether or not a ladder is the proper tool.

Setting goals and planning the process is the wrong first step. Sadly few write about this.
